Hello!

We are Chris and Katie, and we would like to thank you for taking the time to learn about our family. We can only imagine the difficult decision you are trying to make for your child and appreciate your courage. After years of trying to have a child, and many losses, we decided to build our family through different means, and we are so excited to be in the process of open adoption. We appreciate the magnitude of the decision you are making and the roller coaster of emotions involved. We hope our story will help you in making your choice. Our Story

We met through Match.com. After talking online for some time, we decided to meet. We were engaged in March 2014, bought our home in Aug 2014, and married on May 15, 2015 (5/15/15, as Chris enjoys numbers and loves that our wedding date is the same written backwards or forwards). We are 33 years old and have 2 dogs, Franklin (age 6) and Cooper (age 1). Both were adopted through rescue. Katie has a doctorate degree in audiology. She works as an audiologist in an ENT clinic, where she helps patients every day to better their hearing healthcare. Chris has had a long and interesting career. He worked for 7 years at Best Buy and then 6 years at Garmin. He is now trying something completely new and just began a job as a utility worker for the city of Lee’s Summit.  As mentioned earlier, we tried for many years to have a child. We have sadly lost 3 pregnancies to a birth defect, anencephaly. This is a neural tube defect, where our baby’s skull and brain did not fully develop. Doctors have no explanation for this. After seeking grief counseling, we decided that adoption was our best option. We are ready to give our unconditional love to a child and fully welcome them into our home.  

 

About Chris – Katie’s Perspective

Chris is an amazing man and wonderful husband. He is caring and always trying to find a way to help anyone in need. He has an ability to fix almost anything, to a point where if I tell him something in the house isn’t working, he has to go fix it immediately.  His sense of humor is one of my favorite qualities, he always keeps me laughing. If I have a bad day or am feeling down, he is always right there to turn it around and make me smile. We are a solid team, as we work, play, and laugh together daily. I know he will make an amazing father, by just the way he takes care of me and the dogs every day.    

 

 

 

 

About Katie – Chris’s Perspective

Katie is a loving wife that has the determination to take on anything. I could not have found a better person to spend the rest of my life with. She is intelligent and strong; I admire the strength she possesses most of all. Family is a priority for her and she talks to her mom every day. Katie is an achiever; I was so impressed that she had a Doctorate in Audiology when I meet her. She is not intimidated by much; she will not shy away from anything. I can see her hitting the ground running as a mother.  I know this is supposed to be about her, but I really don’t see us as separate entities anymore. We are entwined partners that work together and support each other’s weak points. We have been through so much and it has made us stronger. We are a team that can truly not be beaten by what life throws at us. Our love is truly a binding force.       

 

 

 

Hobbies and Activities

We enjoy traveling, but also those quiet days at home together, with our dogs. We love watching movies and working on puzzles, playing in the backyard with our dogs, cooking meals together, and attending live shows and concerts at the theater.  We have worked to remodel our home and make it our own, one room at a time. We’ve replaced flooring, built bookcases and storage solutions for the basement, and painted most rooms, baseboards, and our kitchen cabinets. We also volunteer for a local pet rescue in Lee’s Summit and have helped remodel their new shelter and have fostered dogs waiting to be adopted.        

 

 

Our Promise

We have always dreamed of becoming parents. Our road has been rocky, but we are so excited to take part in an open adoption and have so much love to share with this child. Please know we will unconditionally love your child and nurture him/her to grow up to be the best person that they can be. We hope to encourage your child to follow all their hopes and dreams. We live in a great school system and will strive to provide a great education.  We would welcome you to be a part of your child’s life in whatever capacity seems right to you. This way your child can understand and appreciate the choice and sacrifice you made from love.
